Preparation Techniques for SAT

There are some tips that might aid students control the time leading to the test, managing the pressure and preparing for a victorious test taking experience.

1 – Prepare
Firstly, the most important thing is to determine what to expect in the test and then taking practice tests. This will help you to recognize the test questions. You can also learn the SAT areas. By answering these questions you can prepare and make note of the questions that give you trouble. They can be either specific ones like quadratic equations or general ones like math questions. Having practice on weak and strong subjects will help you to realize what areas need more attention and also the areas you have expertise in.

Next is to focus on the weak subjects and then to face them again and again. Students should keep practicing the material that is toughest. When you master it, congratulate yourself. In case you are still facing some problems, the student should get some additional help like a private tutor, going to bookstores, preparation classes and many more.

2 – Plan
Students who do the least amount of preparation work close to the test day are the best test takers. Try making your study schedule a little easy. You should relax on the day of the SAT and particularly the night before the exam.

To keep yourself from last minute tension, drive to the location and check where the test is going to take place a day or two before the test. Take out the map for the quickest and easiest way to reach the location. Check all the details before the day of the exam like charging the batteries of calculators, sharpening pencils and other materials.

Try to rest before the test like going to a movie and doing exercises to keep your body and mind relaxed.

3 – Relax
Relaxing and controlling your stress is necessary for successful test taking.

4 – Exercise
To stimulate the body and mind, physical exercise is a must. It enhances your capability to concentrate and think. It also reduces frustration and stress.

5 – Succeed
The best test takers know when to remove certain choices of an answer and how to try and make educated guesses. Keep breathing. Improper breathing blocks clear thinking. The student is now ready to deal with any tension. You are prepared, planned, relaxed and you will succeed.
